custom Bumpers?

Work of caution, and speaking from experience, there are replacement bumpers available but stongly suggest inquire as to the quality. I found there are cheap grade bumper replacement where the chrome plating is extremely thin and made of very low grade steel. Suggest search, imagine member will chime in as to years bumpers are interchangeable. After purchasing a cheapo and discarding it, I went online to 'pick n pull', California Salvage yard network, believe they have salvage yards throughout Ca., where one inters the year and model vehicle, imagine the bumper possibly interchangeable thru at least mid 70's, a list is generated which displays the same/similar year vehicle, the date is was salvaged, which salvage yard, and location on the lot. I ended up traveling to Moss Landing, a total of 80 miles round trip, this was several years ago, but worth it.
Another alternative, check with local and reputable platters, may be surprised? I had an original bumper that was spindled and mutilated but found the shop was able to straightened and re-chromed, cost approx. $250. If reside in the Ca. bay area may want to get a quote from Superior Chrome in San Jose, Ca.
Good Luck!!

thanks dave!
but I want to do something different.
maybe some shoe box bumpers?
im more of a hotrod/custom kinda guy.
I do have a set of mid 40's Plymouth bumpers that may work.
may have to chop something up and re-weld it, but that's just a days work!
looking of more of a custom look and not stock.
appreciate the info tho.
another local place is Bumber Boys. I think their in the south bay.
I had them supply me with a 68 Pontiac Tempest bumper, and it was on point!
