I've done a brief search but can't find exactly what the X-Plan is. Is it a discount I need to be eligible for? Is it something only available in certain regions? Do I need to bring it up to my dealer or will they bring it up?
If you have X-Plan you should have a code. If you have the code, https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do go there. You can build and price and see what the cost will be. Remember, all factory incentives will also apply. So make sure you know what is out there.
If you have coworkers who are also eligible for X-Plan and recently used them, see which dealer they used. They will likely be able to walk you right through it.
An easy way to become eligible is to join the Mustang Club of America, it's $25.00 for a year's associate membership, that's what I did so I could get the X-Plan, it'll come in handy when I order. But it is a pricing program that you need to become eligible for
Mustang Club or EAA. Some dealers will just do invoice without an X-Plan pin so I'd find that out first. Bigger markets with more competition will do it. Small markets where they won't deal is where X-Plan becomes important.
When the fleet manager says he can do better than x-plan am I going to get an overall better deal? Or is he going to find a way to make it up in other areas?
I know the invoice pricing and the x-plan details/fees, so I feel I'm somewhat armed with information. But I don't want to get screwed because I didn't know other ways the deal could be arranged.

All you have to do is ask him to print out a sales order with the numbers he'll use to close the deal. If anything is variable, he can identify them and you can come to an agreement. A sales order will list every charge in detail and you will have answers to all your questions.
My dealer almost made me feel like they were doing a HUGE favor by allowing me to get X plan pricing. When they could not deliver on the vehicle and I told them I will look elsewhere - they said it would be extremely difficult for me to find anything for X plan.
Guess what - I found one in 2 hours that was willing to do X plan and they had the F450 in stock.
I ended up under x plan without much work. Lots of dealers nearby but only went to the closest one. I actually like the dealer and they have been treating me well.
Dealer I am working with said they would sell the truck at $750 below the factory invoice. I signed on immediately. There may be other charges but I think they were fair right from the start and they do have an "honest deal" reputation. Another dealer said he could beat anybody's price as he was poking his finger an inch from my chest and telling "you will go out and get a DBA and I will show you how to save more money by ordering incentive packages as a business and then cancelling them after the order is accepted but the price will still have the discount. point, point point." With each jab I took another step toward the door as he was still talking a mile a minute all the way to my vehicle. "You'll see. You'll be back." Went back to my first dealer and signed up.
