You get a code from your employer (or whoever is giving access to the X-Plan). Go to the website (fordpartners.com I think) and enter the number and some info. They will respond with a PIN you can take to the participating dealer. Pick out or order your truck. Enjoy truck. Price should be a couple hundred below invoice, unless it's a bare-bones model.
There are several threads on X-Plan purchase experiences floating around in the New Truck Buyer forum.
We bought our new F-350 last Friday using the X-plan pricing offered through our job. We just went to the dealer, told them we have X-plan pricing, and which truck we wanted. They gave us the invoice and deducted the $499 "prep" fees. Then the rebates were deducted as well. So it was invoice, minus $499, minus $2000 rebates. There's none of the negotiating nonsense; very easy transaction.
when I bought my 04psd CC last march I got a price with my X plan but I was still able to get the truck for 2k less at another dealer not even mentioning the X plan,, its best to shop around I think,, I saved over 7k total on the truck,,
I have purchased two trucks on the x plan and will be getting my third on Saturday.
Once you have your pin# select the truck you want and ask to see the real invoice. The x plan price will be posted directly on the invoice. It should average about 4K below the invoice price. Do not accept the truck unless you see the invoice with the x plan price listed.
There is NO way a dealer can go 2K below the x plan unless you have the A or Z plans. If you think they did without you mentioning it - then there was a "slight of hand" going on...
Do you have a family member that works for ford. A-D-Z are the best prices. I got my truck for $4700 below invoice with the D-Plan and D-Plan rebate. Make sure they do show you the invoice that was mentioned above. There is no haggling on the price. Its set in "stone". Not sure of the X-Plan but with the D-Plan you also get the extened warranty things at a disconted price, almost half off. Good luck.
