6-Volt Heater Fan Switch

I need a switch for the fan for the motor for my heater box. I have found universal two-speed switches that say that they will work for both 6 and 12 volts. My motor only has one lead for power, so any change in motor speed would have be to the result of something going on at the switch. I don't know much about electrics, but it sounds that something at the switch limits the amount of juice getting to the fan motor. This is done by a resistor? If so, could I adapt a switch with two "on" positions to give me two speeds just by adding a resistor in one of the "on" poisitions? Also, I see that some vendors sell two speed switches for the fan, but they say that they are for 12-volt systems. Could one of these work? Lastly: anyone know where I could just buy the right switch? My truck's a 1953 F100 six-volt positive ground.
