Power Distribution Box

99' F250...I have traces a short to the PD box....I pulled, one by one, every fuse and relay and the short remained..what's next?

copied from 2010 post but have same prpolem.
2000 Lariat F250 7.3 2wd auto.
i unhooked starter and alt fuse links at bat and sol and left fuse link to PDB hooked . took off neg bat cable connected amp meter in series about 2 amp
draw. pulled every fuse and relay still amp draw. doors arent open keys out when i take fused link wire to PDB off no amp draw so no short inbetween i guess. also hooked up 1 ohm 10 watt resistor in place of DMM getting about 250 mv.

OK, you installed a 1 ohm resistor between the neg battery terminal and the cable. From your post you measured 250 millivolt across the resistor.

E=I*R so you have .25 amp current through that resistor. That is completely reasonable for keep alive current for the electronics.

Why is there a problem with this?

i have to buy fuses for DMM but, was getting around 2.5 amps? is this norrmal? truck would not start with 2 new batts after 2 days. son just bought this truck. the person with the resistor sugestion said 35-45 mv was normal.
will put it back together and see what happens. thanks for answer

I have to say, I am somewhat confused.

You are tracing a Short to Ground? If so, there would be a blown fuse that would identify the circuit. There is also another fuse panel and GEM under the Dash. Ps: The Gem should sleep after xx minutes. You may have to wait.

Or, are you saying you have a parasitic draw as described above?

Is this what you did? Or, is it from the other post you referenced?

Is this what you did? Or, is it from the other post you referenced? up to .750mv is acceptable. A .250mv is average for a system sleep mode. But, Why the 10w resistor?

Or, am I just totally lost here?

?10 watt resistor from youtube parasitic draw how to.
?i pulled "all fuses and relays" with meter connected . no change.
?batteries disconnected over night
im the lost one seeing i did not know that .750 mv was acceptable but new batts did run down after 2 days and would not start truck. thats why i started this. now put back together again and will wait. son does not need truck yet, still other work to do on it.
thanks for the replys wiil follow up post
