Left tail light doesn't operate when truck is first started. Colder it is outside the longer it takes. Might come on in 10 seconds or not at all. Changing the bulb didn't help. Any thoughts?
The right front turn signal socket on my 76 had a bad ground. The metal tab had corroded and wasn't making good contact so I replaced the socket. I drove it the other day and on the way home that night I noticed that when I turned the lights on my right blinker indicator was lit up which told me that the market light was not working yet the turn signal did. The next day I went out and checked it. Both filaments were good but the contacts on the base looked mashed or worn out so I replace the bulb with a brand new one and now all is good. Check your ground AND the bulb. Just because the bulb is "good" doesn't mean that works.
Gator is on it! Just like your blinkers, there is tail light fluid. I bet you that it is low or you need to change the antifreeze. The last thing you want is that stuff to freeze up.
It's the solder joint on the socket or inside the bulb. It's called a "cold solder" issue. You could troubleshoot and resolder it with a lot of patient and a multimeter, but for the low low cost and minimal hassle, I'd get a new socket and bulb from local auto parts store for $8 total...snip and crimp 3 wires and it should be good.
