The hood hinges I designed on a redneck CAD program (graph paper and a tape measure...)LOL 3/8 steel and a plasma torch.
Hey, thanks for noticing those, it takes a ton of work to get these old fords stuffed on the ground... heres a pic
F100Today, I've been watchin your build, so many amazing and time consuming details...
Its really COOL, very nice work...GOOD JOB! Love your wheels too! I really wanted Detroit steels, but budget wouldn't allow it.
Check out pre-86 Jaguar XJ6 front ends.
Much like the CrownVic swap, they unbolt off the donor with four bolts, come with rack and pinion, good 4 piston calipers, chevy bolt pattern 5x4 3/4, the correct track width, parts are easy to source, there is lots of swap info on the net, bolt in or weld in and best of all, they are CHEAP!
Because of the narrow track width you can go as low as you want and common bolt pattern opens you up to ANY wheel you want.
Rides and steers really nice.....
Do you have a build thread on this awesome truck? You should start one if you have more pictures of the IFS install, it looks like you z'd the frame in the front a little bit?. Another good IFS is C4 corvette. Ive been doing alot of research on suspension swaps and what ive found is the Crown vic is too wide to go really low, and you have to run wheels that will clear the brakes. C4 corvette is a great setup but are kind of hard to find and expensive, but thats what I would put in if I could find one for 3 or 400 bucks but they seem to be 700 or more in my area.... Jag xj6 is what I ended up getting, I bought a whole Jag xj6 for 400 bucks, sold the rear suspension and a few parts and got my money back and kept the IFS.
Joelb114, nice build especially doing it on a budget.
The LS was a nice choice power to budget wise as well. Personally, I have an LS3 in both my C10 and my Jeep wrangler, I like em.
I talked with Industrial Chassis
they make a front x member that uses Dakota stuff
you can even use 5x5.5 D100 rotors to keep the stock bolt pattern or use the 5x4.5 Dakota rotors
they list it for a 65-66 f100 but can be slightly modified for the 67+
the track width is much better than the CV and drops it more
