My '75 Supercab came with the fuel gauge switch and manual valve. 1975/79 F100/350: Manual fuel tank selector valve used with aftermarket fuel tanks.
When the third tank, which I refer to as a saddle tank, was installed, the manual valve was changed out for a 3 tank valve. The switch still selects the two original sending units so I just wait till it goes buhhh then switch the manual valve to a tank with fuel. Then try to figure out which one I'm on so I can set the switch right. Great fun at 65 MPH.
1975/79 F100/350 with factory installed dual fuel tanks has a fuel tank selector valve and solenoid assy (D5TZ-9189-B) mounted on the cross member.
The selector switch (D5TZ-9A050-A) located in the heater control panel changes the dash fuel gauge and the fuel tanks from one tank to the other.
Thanks guys! I was wondering about the manual switch on the floor by the seat. Thought and wondered if it was stock or an after market change out. Have the tanks all down, going through the fuel system. Flushing tanks and they did put in a saddle tank on the drivers door side of the bed. All steel and a door with key access. I'm loosing the add on saddle tank and washing tanks new sending units and fuel pump. Thanks guys!!!
You are absolutely right!! The tire is mounted in the passenger side panel! Drove it today, need to do a compression test. Found a carburator kit in the box of parts. Probably check the plugs to see how they are burning. Probably tell me how the valves and combustion is all around. . Eric
Wow, this truck is an exact duplicate of a farm truck I bought as my first ever truck I owned. Mine was retrofit with a 427 by the PO because he was just that crazy. He ended up hitting a low cut stump and busted a radius arm on the drivers side.I paid him $50.00 for the entire truck. I drove that gas hog to school everyday until I got a 1978 F-150. If you ever want to be rid of that truck let me know..Mine was workhorse that never died, still around somewhere yet today rumor has it. I'd like to have another one.
Thanks Lil Lu! I will keep you in mind! I am still in love at this stage of our relationship!! Lol! I am doing a heavy duty tune up and light restro at this point. Complete fuel system all oils and interior replacement. I think classic truck guys have a place in there mind where they remember dad, brother, grandfather. And there where the memories come in every time we start um!
What are your plans for the light resto? One tip I have is to try picking up on the little things guys on here do that won't cost you any more money, but will make a big difference in the end product.
Case in point: I see you repainted your mirrors and wheels. Looks like you sprayed them with white while they were still on the truck. If you take them off and spray the hubs a black or natural iron colored paint, then reassemble with the natural colored lugnuts it is more visually appealing to the OCD type like me.
Not nitpicking, just offering up a suggestion. Check out threads like HIO's grill treatment thread for ideas.
Thanks Number Dummy! Laser Mike! Found the saddle tank was a steel welded job blocking hose access to the main tank. All three down and going to wash them and replace sending units. Leaving the after market out. Probably lighten the truck by bout eighty pounds!! Lol! Learning the website better. Don't know how you could get the wealth of info from anywhere but here! You know, when involved in clock restoration we use a term. Do no harm. Guess that's what I wanna do with this old gal!
Thanks Two fifty! Your right. Kinda did a quick spray on those. I am hoping to get the time to do them right. Did find a good site for interior seat dash and floor. Pony parts through EBay. I am retaining the original mounted AM philco radio and dash speaker, would like to find a alternate location under dash perhaps where the CB was mounted to have some FM. Do want to keep it as original as possible. When I get ready to repaint it back to factory sky blue, probably pull the rims and detail them and put new rubbers D load rated. But been kind of excited to get her out and running across these sierras up here.

I love the side spare tire placement. It has to be the easiest spare tire removal jobs, especially when you are getting up in years.
I recently came across one like yours at the pick and pull and couldn't help but to pull the side cover and spare tire assembly. Not sure what I am going to do with it as I don't see how I can use the assembly on my truck.
I wonder if someone can modify their 1973-1979 truck without the larger wheelbase and make it work?
Definitely a "10" on the wow and function factor as far as I am concerned. I never saw one before other than in pictures. I wonder how rare they are with the side mounted spare like yours?
