Ive been working on my truck for a couple years now and I figure I would let everyone know what I got so far. This is my first "big build" though Ive been working on cars since I could drive. Building something like this has been a huge challenge of skill and knowledge. There is always something that you could have done different after the fact but thats learning I guess! still a long way to go with lots of decisions to be made! Just a quick rundown on what I got so far:
1969 F100 Ranger
Crown vic front suspension
Triangulated rear bar set up with QA1 coilovers
Rear mounted tank
Shaving all moldings and drip rails
Smoothing out the tail gate and bed right now
Thats it as far as custom touches so far, Just the typical restoration woes and goes. I havent really figured out a direction for color themes or anything yet
Nice work Ike. You've certainly come a long way. I'm glad you stayed with the Ford 9-inch. How did you address the mix in bolt pattern between the CV IFS and the rear axle? An 80-83 F100 rear axle perhaps?

And is that a 72-80 Scout tank from MTS?
.
You nailed it on the MTS tank! Seemed like the logical choice cause I want to have a filler door on the side. The rear bolt pattern I opted to have the axles re drilled for 5 on 4 1/2 vs adapters. I can fit some larger meats this way I figure. I got frustrated trying to interchange 9" axles since there are about a million different styles it seems.

Did the new holes have to be drilled fairly close to the existing wheel stud holes in the axle flanges? With the large access hole in the axles wheel flange, seems it would throw off the holes being evenly spaced in between the existing wheel stud holes.
Large access hole in the wheel flange of this '71 Ford F100 9-3/8" 31-spline axle in the '69 F100 9-inch rear end housing under my truck. This has the 5 x 5.5" lug pattern.
Do you have a photo of your axles showing the modified location of the new wheel stud pattern?

I ended up welding the old holes and scooting them over a bit. It all worked out well. I don't have a pic of the new set up but I can get one. Here is the back side area of the old one. You can see the bit that needs shaved down about a half inch to clear the smaller pattern. Few bucks at the machine shop. I drilled my own holes to save money though.
