can u gut the DPF?

Hello,

Can u gut the DPF like a old cat converter and not reprogram?
Or remove some of the internals and reduce the number of regens?
Cant delete here anymore. They are stepping up on visual inspections

Thanks

In my humble opinion, the simple answer is no, you can't. If you don't reprogram, there is nothing to stop the PCM from dumping the extra fuel for the regen.

I wouldn't. Because if they are doing visual inspection they might do tailpipe inspection. Not worth the expense and hassle.

Nope. They (EPA and Ford) thought of that and the computer will mess you up. You could gut it, but would still need to reprogram the computer.

And at that point you would be much better off getting a delete pipe and being able to put your dpf back on to get an inspection. Or to have just to go with the truck when it's time to get rid of it a dealer may not take it on trade with out the emissions system in place.

That's old school! Someone needs to market a delete pipe in the shape of the DPF.

Many places have... You still need a delete program though. That used to be done to CATS and then you had "finger sticks" that would fool the computer to thinking it still had a good cat in it. Now you have to program completely around it....
