My Expedition was having problems since two weeks ago. It started with not being able to take off on D it would have to be revved up to 2 to 3k in order for it to take off. and only Reverse worked fine. At first i was able to start it 1st gear then work my way to 2nd then first and it worked fine for a week now it wont move in 1,2,D but in reverse it works perfect. I have summed it down to the transmission dying.
I have a 2005 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition 5.4 rwd (not 4X4)
My question to you guys is What other year/models are compatible with mine?
I know my expedition has 4R75E Transmission and the 03-04 expedions have the 4r75w i think.
Yeah fluid was checked it was dark brown not red. level was ok. Took off pan and magnet was full of metal debris (dirt size). You could hear the gears trying to lock on and disengage when trying to take off at high rpm.
Do you think it something else?
I found a 2006 ford expedition 5.4 rwd transmission (4r75e) same tranny just one year newer. i was wondering if it fits and works the same.

Nope, tranny is shot. It is rebuild or replace time.
