I hear ya. Thank goodness for. People in need of help can ask and at least get some help (including pictures) almost immediately.

Wow that certainly is a lot of work...how did you settle on a 56 instrument cluster?
Your metal working skills are top notch, can't wait to see the finished product.

how i made the sheet metal i got a peace of sheet adjusted my break when you bend it 90' it would bend with a 1/4 radius on the edge i wanted more but thats all it has

so i bent a sheet with 1-1/2 lip
then i used a cheap foot op shrinker and keep shrinking the lip till it had the shape i wanted

then i got a pneumatic hammer with a rounded edge chisel made a fixture
and hammered the lip down around the 5/16 rod

i did not know an easy way to do this i though about it and tried it the part in the pic was my 1st attempt to see if my idea would work

thanks

i was not sure how to do this

BJ I bet you could do it. there is some talent in this build for sure but do the same thing I have been doing. Break it down into tiny steps and do one at a time. What is the worst that could happen when you try? Wreak some steel, they make it every day. It is not heart surgery, no one will die. Forget who said it but "I have never failed, only found 200 ways not to do something" WD40 was made on the 40 attempt to make a water displacing agent. Hershey chocolates went bankrupt 3 or 4 times before getting where he is today. And you want to do what? There is lots of talent here to help you. There is also a body work section in this forum, just found that as well, but not as busy as this section.

been working on it got the intercooler mounted. now i am working on the bed I didn't like the flat side walls on these trucks ;-) so i added an outer skin with some curves. plus by doing this i had room for the tail lights i had to modify the rear fenders to match the curved sides i still need to finish the finders bottom and make the running boards
what do you guys think ?

I like it but I am a darksider also. Like it when guys do something different with there trucks. Heck the only thing completely original on my truck is the front fenders.
Did you coat the metal you can't see with some sort of rust prevention before putting the outside layer on?

i have not put any rust prevention in yet. i did some some before on the cab it made really hard to have a clean weld when you have some coating between two sheet of metal but i did leave opening at the bottom so I can spray something like Eastwood Internal frame coating when I'm done
