Had a post about what a great vacation yesterday, I didn't start that way. Evening before we left had torrential rain and yard was flooded around parking spot for camper, didn't want to pull it out through the new lake so I hooked up and tried to jack knife it around the building. It didn't work out with a tree being in the way but got it eventually. Didn't know that while backing to tight I had guillotined the 7 wire cable to the camper. The ok part was nothing damaged on truck except the charge fuse blew but what I didn't know was a few strands of the 7 wire on the trailer were still hot and shorting out. Melted the harness back to junction box under camper. As soon as I got out of the truck I disconnected the battery at the box and the cable was smoking. NO FUSE at the battery. Had never gave it a thought. Check your trailers, you may have a full time hot all the way from your battery to who knows where. I'm installing one of those large bolt on fuses at the battery. What kind of amp rating should I be looking for?
