Fuel supply pump

Hey there kids I've just picked up a 7.3 transplanted into a 79 4x4 stepside.
Question : where can I find a good picture or discription of the line connections at the pump ...
These leak if I look at them the wrong way 😅
Thanx

Are you asking about the line connections on the lift pump which is much like the fuel pump on a carbureted engine or the connections on the injector pump?
The lift pump exit line connects to the fuel filter with a steel line and another steel line runs from the filter to the injector pump.
There are 8 steel lines that run from the injector pump to each injector.

Thanx your discription is helpful.
I'm thinking that the crimp lock and o ring are toast the line spins easy and will leak if not positioned just right 😉

If you are talking about lift pump to filter head, or filter head to Injection pump, they are called Olives by most, the technical name for them is Vibra-Loc.

For Filter head to Injection pump.
5/16" Vibra-Loc - McMaster-Carr Item 50385K83: 5/16" Vibra-Loc - McMaster-Carr Item 50385K83

For Lift pump to Filter head.
3/8" Vibra-Loc - McMaster-Carr Item 50385K84: 3/8" Vibra-Loc - McMaster-Carr Item 50385K84

-Enjoy

Just wondering why Olives/Vibra-Locs are so dang expensive. They aren't exactly made from Unobtainium or Kryptonite.

Like everything else, they sell them for what they can get for them regardless of the cost to build/make.

I mean come on, they are nothing special, basically just non reinforced hose cut to length.

-Enjoy

Thanx for your input! 😉
When I get to that point I will clean the greasy dirt off and at least have an idea of what I have in front of me 😉.
Right now I'm in rust repair mode 😅

I've read this entire thread like 4 times and I still can't ascertain what the original poster is asking for.

Instead of posting a picture of the rust, why not just post a picture of what is leaking, then we can help you better.

This is the pump with the weak line connection that is sitting in the frame rail under the spot I'm doing the rust repair. The 90° fitting is the culprit, that line runs up to the tank. I noticed this while playing with the rust. When I get to the fuel systems check I'll need to deal with this. Thank you for your input and helping me to keep on point with my questions 😉

That's not a pump, it is the fuel selector valve (FSV).

As for seals for it, I'll leave that to someone else, I do not know off hand what seals it uses.

Is that leak causing a problem? (Like hard starting, power loss, air infiltration, etc)? If not, when why worry about a few drops of diesel on the fuel line?

Oh it gets a little better than just a few drops I have not noticed any problems from it but have only driven it once from sale to home maybe 75 km

The FSV already has one tank blocked off, it looks like...so just eliminate it for now. Just connect your line /from/ the tank to the fuel pump on the passenger's side of the engine(right behind the vacuum pump), and the return line /to/ the tank up to the return system between the intake and injector #8 at the back of the motor.

You can use rubber fuel line for both if you want - it's all zero pressure at this point, just make sure you clamp it all tightly to prevent leaks.
