I've got quite a bit of surface rust on the 87' bronco i just bought. From reading all of the posts i've learned sanding is the first step in repairing it. When sanding do i need to use a grinder, electric sander, wire brush? Whats the easiest way to take care of it.
Thanks in advance,
Jordan
Hey Jordan and welcome to FTE!
Since it's all surface rust, I would start with some 150 or 100 grit paper on a palm sander. You won't go deep, but at this piont, you may not want to. The harder, or deeper areas you can do later with a drill and wheel.
Once you know what type of paint you'll be applying, make sure the primer is compatable.
I know it's hard to spend hard earned cash on something you'll never see, but spend the extra cash to purchase some good quality primer. You won't regret the purchase.
Good luck and if you get the chance, post some pics. We're pretty nosey around here! HEE HEE!
Talk with you later...
