hopefully a simple install, but when it comes to electrical connections & a new truck, I'm just not going to jump in without knowing for sure what I'm doing..wrong wire & the gauge is the least of my troubles.....
bought a simple autometer voltage gauge & single bracket, located a location for the bracket & am awaiting the gauge bracket to hold the gauge in the mounting bracket (thought the gauge would come with it..that's what I get for thinking)
looking at the wiring diagram:
black to "good engine ground" THIS ***** I've got!
white to +12v Dash: any suggesions as to an easy to locate & work with source for this connection?
Red to +12v ignition: again, not looking to accidentally hook into a canbus circuit or some other computer network wire, just a good, accessible way to connect this wire.
I've heard that some of the wiring is extremely sensitive to even the slightest voltage fluctuation & the last thing I want to do is pay a fortune to have my errors corrected

I would run the wire thru the firewall grommet and use a fuse position that is always hot for this. you can get a fuse jumper at any parts store that will let you extend the fuse position and provide you a connection wire.

use a multi meter to test for hot always, hot only with key on.
another good thing about this is you can disconnect it pretty easy if you have to go into service for electrical related warranty work. you know the deal, its your fualt your truck computer burns out becuased you changed your plastic air valve covers to metal ones...etc
