So i bought this 07 used with 86K on the engine. After 2 days cats code went off and i had both replaced with brand new ones. Now my truck is making a rattling as i step on the gas at about 2500 rpms. Its sounds like metal ***** in a can swirling around amd as i let off gas the sound stops. It happens often, also the other day inwas pulling off and heard a grind for about 2 seconds then stopped never beard it again, it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side. It sounds like a bearing but i really have no idea. IMG_4285.MOV this is the noise somebody please help
But, your symptom descriptions have the signature of broken timing chain guide, or guides. At that mileage, plugs are definitely DUE and may never have been changed. That likely resulted in misfires/bucking, or failing/poor functioning cam chain tensioners resulted in chain slack slapping the hell out of the plastic guides. (I'm suspecting yours look just about like mine did in the attached photo - although at 212,000 miles)
The sound you are hearing is one or both chains to contacting the inside of the aluminum timing cover. The described 'grinding noise' sounds like a chunk of plastic guide rubbing on the chain until it disintegrated. Cats code or damage may have resulted from the misfires dumping too much unburned fuel into the exhaust.
Seems fairly low mileage to have these problems. But continued operation is not a good idea. Chunks of broken chain guides get sucked up into the oil pickup screen, restricting oil flow. Too much junk blocking the pickup can cause 'cavitation' where the oil pump sucks air bubbles and causes the oil to foam - seriously degrading oil pressure - but NOT enough for the oil pressure switch to trip low oil pressure indication. Also, aluminum shavings from the inside of the timing cover circulates through the oil system.
