Clifford Header

Wondering if anyone else has had an experience with clifford performance for their 300. I recently bought a header for my 95 and have had more problems than the $300 was worth. First off, the alternator bracket had to be notched alot to fit the header, I had to modify a 9/16 open-end wrench to tighten the two bottom front bolts, then the collectors they sent fell off the first time I drove it because they didn't include lock washers with the bolts. I know I should have noticed and bought some, but I was in a hurry and used what they included because I thought they might know something. So finally after getting pipes put on it and just today finding another o2 sensor to plug off the second header, I notice there's a nice leak where the three tubes come together in the rear collector. So needless to say after $600 in exhaust, I still have a leak, which was the main reason I did the header in the first place. I just wondered if anyone had good or bad luck with clifford's before I call them so I know how nice I will be. Thanks for any comments.

Clifford Header

Hey there Redneck 83! I used Clifford many years ago and they had always made a good product and were always on the pricey side. I have tried a couple of times to refer them here at FTE, but some of the guys responded with, "they aren't like that anymore"
with their customer service. It seems they have gone down hill since I've used them. I don't know if they have new management or if the company was sold.
Either way, quality, fit and finish should be the highest priority of any aftermarket manufacturer. Service after the sale comes in a very close fourth. I don't think you would have to press them too hard to send you out another header, or they may recommend a vendor in your area to do the repairs to your existing header, free of charge of course.
I would lean towards a Nice, but Firm stature to deal with them.
Good luck and get back to us and let us know what happened. Make sure they understand, that you have access to over 120k FTE members to inform if things can't get worked out in a timely manner! HEE HEE! Talk with you later....
