After I bought this 04, I've noticed it has had a lot of things done to it. New FICM, radiator, oil pan, fuel pressure regulator, fuel inj pump, possible new oil cooler (ford mechanic said it looked new.) Is there any way to tell if anything has been "bulletproofed"?
I just bulletproofed my V-10 with fresh spark plugs and an oil change.
I don't know much about a lot of things including PSDs but does your new rig have the factory head bolts still or has it been studded? You can see a few of the bolts/studs without taking anything apart.
Look at the headbolts just below the valve covers. If you see a bolt, you have the stock headbolts. If you see a bolt fastened on a stud, you're studded.

Well, besides the ribbing I did give the same info about checking for studs as Razzi did, and He actually knows something (a lot! ) about the subject, unlike me.

I will concede the head studs
A few months ago, you could have sucked me into a major embarrassment as , for at last a week after buying it, I did not know diesels did not have spark plugs
