Last year i had the resonator in the tail pipe rust out and the fiberglass plugged up the tail pipe solid....Motor got hot and exhaust pressure must have been hell on the manifolds. 70MPH on the Mass pike hauling my 10500lbs toy hauler. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-exhuast.html
Anyway I have several that have now decided to pop...
So my quick question is what is the prefered do it once solution to this problem? I see plain steel replacements, SS bolts, SS studs ect.
I'm inclined to go with SS Stud kit from Metric Screw an Tool co as I know them and have been a customer for 30+ years...growing up a few towns away. but it that the i never want to do this job again best solution? I looked at ARP but didn't see anything...
Whatever you do, choose a fastener (mainly the nut) that will not corrode to the manifold. Copper-plated (Ford's solution I think), stainless washer under the nut, anti-seize, something.
Thanks Krewat.
I was hoping for a bunch of input. I looked and right now i have only o busted stud and the gasket is not leaking at all. The stud popped its head so its flush with the manifold been thinking of drilling it out but needed to wait until i can get it on a freinds lift
Maybe once its on the lift. laying on the ground not a chance....
Real question is what to replace the studs with? I'm 90% sure i'll go with stainless and be done with it but wanted input from others on this common problem.
