No. Just the belt but first remove the disc retaining nut.
When my clutch failed I ended up replacing the whole compressor because financially it made more sense. I had a hard time finding the correct clutch and a whole new compressor wasn't much more.
I don't know what your issue is but you can adjust the air gap between the disc and drive pulley if it's slipping. On mine the bearing went so that was not an option. Good luck.

I would check the air gap and see if it's too large.

If the compressor also has the 210,000 miles on it and the clutch is bad, I'd definitely change the whole unit.

At 200k, the wear of the friction disc got to the point that a change in the simple shim got my A/C to work properly.

the compressor does not have the 210,000 on it. i replaced the compressor about 4 years ago. If the gap is larger than 0.75 how do i reduce it?

I am not sure how to correct the gap but part numbers and diagrams can be helpful.

AC Clutch: 1L3Z19D786BA

To adjust the gap, remove the center bolt. Remove clutch plate. Inside the bore there should be washers, they are actually shims. Take 1 out and replace the clutch. Put the shim you took out and put it on the center retaining bolt and reinstall. RECHECK GAP TO MAKE SURE IT'S IN SPEC.If it's still not in spec readjust shims. You may have to get a shim kit for different thicknesses.

The way I did it was to measure the gap with a feeler gauge, which showed it was excessive, something like 0.040" rather then 0.013-0.030". Took off the belt, unbolted the center screw or nut, and removed the clutch plate. Since I had the belt off I needed to use a square bar across the pultrusions to hold it while unbolting. I measured the existing shim and used one of the replacements that came in a RockAuto shim kit that was 0.020" thinner then the original. Reassembled everything, checked the gap, and off I went.

If that clutch is slipping you do not want to run the A/C at all.

ok thanks, I had been using the a/c though. will that damage anything else or is it just bad on the compressor? Like I said before it only lasts for a few minutes then everything seems fine.
