weird. well does the power steering still work?
try taking some out and get it to the cold full mark while everything is still cold. then fire it up and get to operating temperatures.

you may have air in the system.
It did work, not so much now. Works a lot harder and just moans and groans @ me
Thought I had a leak, I could see the lines are pretty wet, bought some of that 2 part power steering repair & was going 2 dump it in yesterday till I sen it was already over full.
Air could be possible I guess, not sure how to bleed the system tho

yeah you have air in the system. its cavitating the pump.
fix the lines that are leaking.
fill up power steering pump.
jack up front of bronco. put jack stands under axle. make sure bronco doesnt roll back or forward. emergency brake.
with engine off turn the steering wheel lock to lock slowly. keep check on the fluid in the pump so it doesnt get low and introduce air back in. keep turning lock to lock until no more air bubbles. can take awhile to do this.
crank up the bronco. turn wheel lock to lock. make sure you hear no moaning. if all is good...it is bled.
you can also get a rubber stopper and plug the power steering hole and install a brass pipe in the middle of the rubber stopper then get a hand vacuum pump and vacuum pump the air out as well.

Your advice is much appreciated
Any idea on how much fluid the system holds when I go to fill it back up?

just pour it in until the fluid gets to the full mark on the cold side of the dipstick. then turn the wheels. keep it up to the full mark on the cold side until the air is out. then crank up the truck. get to operating temperature. check the fluid while its running. if all looks good turn all the way to the lock and turn back to the middle. check the fluid to the full mark on the hot side. if ok turn to the way to the lock. if no moaning. its good. go drive it around some. just make sure there is no leak from the hoses or any seal blew on the steering gear box.
Hey MVR: Hope you are doing well and had a Merry Christmas. I am also trying to get the air out of my power steering pump. I am using Type F as fluid. Do you have a recommendation for a proper power steering fluid? 1995 Bronco 5.8
Type F is just fine. The lucas stuff helps to quiet it down a bit if it is an old, worn unit but that vacuum trick to pull air out of the system works like a dream. If it is just worn out it will whine even without air in it, indicating it is time for a saginaw upgrade! =)
