I've got the door glass and vent window removed. To install the new rubber weatherstrip for the vent window, it looks like I have to remove the window assembly from the surrounding frame. I removed the two screws from the top pivot; that's done. But for the bottom pivot post, after removing the nut, the spring, and the shims, it looks like a bushing is pressed on that prevents me from removing it from the frame (see photo)
I assume I have to get the pivot post free of the frame in order to install it through the new weatherstrip -- but how?
Just reconditioned and replaced the vent seals on my 65, not sure if similar/same; I noticed there is a slight space in the knurled shaft that corresponds with a gap in the serrated washer and when aligned the window portion slides out. Suggest pay attention, may want to mark location on washer and shaft for ease of installation?
Thanks, guys! It was a bit of a work-out, but applying constant pulling while slightly rotating the window within the frame worked!. I was hesitant to use brute force, fearing I'd break something by not knowing a simpler way of doing it. It's good to get the help of FTE'ers who've been there / done that. Thanks again.
