seems to be coming from the fan clutch area when its idling.....it sounds like a metallic rattling sound. I took the shroud out and got access to the fan. it seems that where the wire harness goes into the fan clutch, there is a metal cover around the outside of it, and its loose around the harness. anybody ever seen this? or is there a way I could tighten it up so it quits ratteling or am I looking at a new clutch? thanks
also the clutch seems to be fine, its locking up when it should and not making any noise off idle
I had the same issue. I replaced my clutch and it was fixed. I'm pretty sure there's no way to fix the clutch you have.
If the wires come loose, they'll get caught in the fan and that would be bad while driving.
Rock auto had the best clutch price at the time. Fyi the snow plow option clutch is only different from the standard clutch in its lowest state of lockup (like unlocked but it still spins some). This is because if you have a plow it blocks airflow. So its not an upgrade unless you plow.
