This is a stupid question, but before I made the purchase I wanted some feedback. I'm looking to purchase some jack stands to work on my Truck (1999 F-250 SC). What size should I be looking at? The Sears Craftsman Jack stands I saw the other night come in 2, 2 1/4, 3, 3 1/2, and 6 ton. Considering that I will mostly be using the stands to lift only half (front OR back) of the truck at a time which size do I want? Thanks for the input.
I have four 6 ton stands as well.............sometimes I wonder if the 12 tons (I'm pretty sure that's what they were) would have been better for the extra height .
reddog.. no it does not. I use a 3 ton jack and it works fine... i can lift the rearend up from the center of the dif with it no problem. I dont leave it on it by any means, but long enough to get the stands under. On the fron of the truck i use two 3ton jacks, one on the dif, and the other on the oppostie side just on the axle.
Just to be sure... are you guys recommending the 6 and 12 ton stands because of their height or their weight capacity. I found a 3 ton stand set that has a 20" lift capacity. I believe this is enough height but is it enough weight capacity?
