I was looking for shorty headers for my 1985 f250 4X4 with 460. But could not find any. Is there ones for another ford that could fit . Or long tubes are the only option?
They usually only make shorty headers for the later trucks. For the smaller engines you can usually buy headers for a truck in the 90's, plug the oxygen sensor hole and use them. Sometimes you have to buy a new later model y-pipe to make it fit up.
So check and see if they make shorties for a later 460. You also need to make sure the pattern on the heads are the same, these will be fuel injected 460's and I know the heads do have some differences. Not sure about the exhaust manifold fitment.
These are marketed by Hedman as shortys but I would call them mid length. . 1984 F250 chassis. Hedmans, got them from Summit. 460, I dropped the engine into the chassis the other day and they fit perfectly. I am going to fabricate my own full dual exhaust system using flowmaster super 40s, and going to incorporate an x pipe. Part number on Summit is 89460 if you're interested. They sell for about 280 and they come with the ball flange not the flat 3 bolt type.
