Does anybody know if Hooker headers for a 1982-87 F-250
with a 460 fit in a 91 bronco with a 1970 429, I tried
Hedman's and they blocked off half of the exhaust port.
hey man,
the headers should fit fine. to my knowledge the bronco and f-150 engine bays are the same. the thing you will have to worry about is like you said, the header not actually fitting the heads. ford changed the 460 to efi in 88(pretty sure about that, coulda been 87), and with the change came a change in the exhaust ports. but the ports were the same from 69-87, so the f250 headers should fit. good luck
mike
I have Hedman Headers for the F-250 in my '82 Bronco with an early 460, '72 PI heads and they match the ports. Could they have accidently given you an application for later FI heads?
With the exception of L&L and another company near San Francisco (can't remember their name), I don't believe any of the header manufacturers make a specific application for Bronco/460. I had to 'adjust' one of the Hedman runners on the passenger side to make mine fit. But, uncoated, they've lasted through 16 years of Idaho's Panhandle snow, Mojave Desert heat and six different sets of heads, so I can't complain.
When they do rust out (I've welded the bottom of the collector ends where moisture gathers twice), I'll go to L&L. I hear nothing but good things about them and the applications I've seen are very clean. You get what you pay for.
