Is there any adjustment on the steering gear for loose steering wheel feel. When the truck is being driven there a some play in the wheel. I remember on some of my cars there is a bolt on the steering gear that can be adjusted but I do not see one on this one.
If there is a sector shaft adjustment screw it should be the last resort. Check tie rod ends, ball joints bearings and steering shaft. If you have a friend get under the truck while he turns the steering back and forth while you watch this will give you a good idea where to start.
Adjusting a steering gear box is a touchy thing. The tiniest adjustment can get wild results, and then it very hard to go back to where it was before. Like Roboto said, leave this for the last resort. Did you check the gearbox mounting bolts? They need to be completely tight. Any movement there will result in loose and wandering steering.
