2004 E150 4.6l . My van started running very ruff. I got a check engine light that started blinking. I pulled the codes and got a P0316 - Engine Misfire Detected on Startup (First 1000 Revolutions) and a P0306 Misfire Cylinder #6.
Upon pulling the COP on # 6 I found that it seemed loose. It was not bolted down (someone broke off the mounting bolt). I inspected the COP applied some dielectric grease and reinstalled it. I drove the van a short distance and it ran very well. I cleared the codes and ran the van for about 20 minutes without the check engine light coming back on. Since the CEL didn't come back on does this mean that it is fixed? My thought is that the CEL would have come back on immediately if the problem still existed.
Me to. I'm trying to come up with some sort of clamp that is safe, however, I think I will have to bring it in and have the stud removed and then re-tapped if needed. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Seems my Van answered my question. After a bit off driving the CEL came back on. I tested and got the same code. I swapped # 5 & #6 COP's, replaced #6 plug and still got a Misfire on # 6 code. I have also gotten a new code P2198 O2 A/F Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich (Bank 2 Sensor 1). Looks like it is going into the shop.
