Honing Help
The machinist that helped me w/ piston and ring info told me to use ATF and the videos were all over the board with one guy going dry, to another guy using WD40.
One guy said to hone until the surface is uniform shiny. Another guy honed
the bores for like 3 minutes each with his drill on high speed?
So again, I ask for sage advice from the Seers at FTE. What do you guys say?
I used Wd40 , I did mine for probably 3 minutes , but I think this is different for every engine . Just do as much honing as needed to get it even . I am sure others will chime in .
**Tip don't lift or lower the hone out of the cylinder more than like a 1/2 inch with it spinning .
Is there a ridge in the cylinder bores at the very top? If so then you need it bored and oversize pistons and rings. If not then do at least a hone job to remove the rust in your cylinders.

If you buy this tool also, put your drill on a medium speed. Oil the cylinders down with a thin layer of engine oil. Set the diameter of the hone's stones so they aren't too tight in the bores. While spinning the hone in the bores with the drill move it up and down medium fast. You want to only remove the rust, get the full cylinder top to bottom, and put a criss cross pattern in the bore.
