Scan gauge question about boost

Watching videos and ordering parts -- I hear some confusing things about the oil feed tube to the turbo -- it sounds like the 2003/early 2004 (which is what I have) has some upgraded/updated tube. What does the updated one look like? If I am going to pull the turbo I should change it now if it needs to be. Should I simply accept that the electric VGT solenoid/switch/do hicky is OK or is there some specific test. I do have all of the Ford shop manuals for this vehicle -- well 5 of them, anyhow -- but finding details like this has been difficult for me -- I cannot quite figure out how the information is organized. I have figured out which manual to look in (1A or 2B or whatever) but then finding the specific tests or whatnot eludes me. Thank you for walking me through this.
