estimated is the correct description. I've seen it drop unexpectantly, and get the 500 miles till slow drive happens.

That sucks then...

I was hoping it was a little more accurate than that!

I know. My def sending unit is wacky, its hit the 500 mile warning and I could only get 1 jug in before it overflowed, expecting to put closer to 2 jugs in.

Running to down to less than 200 miles has kept mine pretty good and consistent.

The DEF tank only has 3 level sensors as I understand it. Maybe Keith will verify this.

Very similar to the water tanks on an RV. Full, Half full/Empty and empty.

When I monitored the Urea level, it hit 66% and never dropped any more. I got the 500 mile count down with the CTS showing 66%.

I just recently started using Forscan to monitor my truck and I took a trip to Home Depot which is about 30 miles away. I can't remember what soot percentage I was at, but it was high and I fully expected a regen. However, it never happened and the soot percentage got down to almost nothing by the time I got to Home Depot. I don't remember what EGT temps were. That was my first experience with a passive regen and I was not towing. Also, I have seen active regens when towing my 5er.

My experience with passive regen has been in winter only, hauling. Even then it would just go down a few points, passive regen for me was mainly not adding to the gpl's.

Monitoring my EGT's on way down there, I noticed that my unloaded EGT's were all running under 600F on the drive down. My Regens were happening around every 500 miles or so. Pretty normal.

On the drive back, pulling a 6 x 12 UHaul trailer that was loaded up, but not excessively full, my EGT's ran in the high 600's to low 700's. Now it has been my understanding from reading other threads here on the forum, that with those EGT's I should have had enough passive regen happening to either minimize or not have Regen's at all. Instead, I was having Active Regen's happen and happen more often than when unloaded. At between 350-400 miles.

So, my question is, at what EGT's do the passive Regen occur at? Because, it sure isn't just above 600F as I've read in other post's!

When using FORScan Lite app to monitor the truck computer data, you need a means of connecting your smart phone, tablet or laptop to the truck. You can use either a WiFi adapter or a blue tooth adapter.
