Hey. Brand new truck 2016. Built n priced my first new vehicle ever so i'm pretty stoked n proud to get my truck finaly. Did my first service early at 5000klm last night and was horrified to find a layer of oil over bed plate. My last truck 2004 6.0l had the same issue which I just lived with it as not worth pulling the motor i thought, but i feel quite a lot different about this truck.
Im shocked ford havnt got this figured out yet it being 2nd generation of the 6.7 also and i have heard the 6.4's can have the same issue. I went through the whole egr delete n arp blah blah blah with the last truck n still had to live with a bed plate leak.
I said last time "Never buying a ford again" but after researching various sources of info i had confidence in 6.7, but thinking about it now if ford decided to use a composite oil pan on first gen 6.7 why would they fix a design issue with a bed plate gasket that has been a there for their last two motors?.
I was gonna keep this truck for 6-7 years, not now i'm thinking 3 years n sell it with low klm n get a good price for it. 100% never buying a ford again.
6.7 doesn't have a bed plate. 6.0 and 6.4 were international engines, not ford designs. You are well within warranty, go get it fixed. Good luck with your next choice in trucks, you will be missed.
