1978 vin decode?
Need my vin decoded.

1978 f150 2wd 351w valve cover says 1977 model year c4? Guessing it was a 302 truck originally replaced with a car 351w... just bought it yesterday...

G=302 2bbl V8
C=Ontario truck plant
CG1871=1978 model year sequential serial number.
Note: The serial number for 73-77 consisted of one letter and five numbers. In 78 Ford switched to two letters and four numbers so this VIN is correct for a '78, it's not missing any numbers.

F700 F70CVYour truck is not a 1978.
F70 = F700 (gas).
C = 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine.
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
E00219 = 1969 (1969 F100/750 serial number range: D82,001-G30,000).
1967/77 trucks: The serial number, the last 6 digits of the VIN has 1 letter followed by 5 numbers (as above).
1978/80 trucks: The last 6 digits of the VIN has 2 letters followed by 4 numbers.
