I know it is a big expense but I would suggest getting a complete new one. The factory wiring circuits were over loaded from the start and well all of them will be 40+ years old. If you find NOS it will most likely cost more than the replacement linked above.

I'm going through the same thing now .. got a couple of harnesses pulled from around the same year. But it's [pretty amazing how much Ford swapped out pretty much every connector & switch in the same year. I know I don't feel like blowing most of my budget on an aftermarket harness. I'm basically frankensteining the ones I got off ebay & FTE to see if I can get the truck powered up again. Check the Marketplace forum for used harnesses.
On my Mustang I did use an American Autowire kit and they are great, just expensive.
