Well I have yet another idiotic idea, I want to find a clapped out 460 knock the insides out and make a grill out of it. So my question is this, any of the Pacific Northwest folks on here have a clapped out 460 they'd be willing to part with for cheap or free? I know I know craigslist but I figured I'd give it a shot here. let me know...
Also would there be any interest in something like this if it turns out good?
LMK if I'm reading this as you intended. You want to locate an unsalvageable 460 block so that you can convert it to a barbecue grille. Is that correct?
I'm not in your area and don't have such a block but I have explored making outdoor grilles out of automotive parts. When I get done cannibalizing my '77 F-250 Camper Special sCab, I will have four 16.5" wheels. Here's a video how-to:
When I read the thread title, I thought it was going to be someone asking whether 460 equipped trucks had a different grill.
Sounds like a cool idea though.
I Maybe might still have a scrap block. I will look this weekend. I'm in the Oregon city area. If I still have it you can have it. It's been years since I looked for it at my dad's house

Exactly! except I want to find as complete an engine as possible remove all material from the inside of the block to make the grilling area, remove the exhaust valves so the smoke vents through the headers, come up with a hinge system, and sand blast everything then paint it Ford blue

Belshe92,
Take a lot of pictures. I want to see how this comes together. Are you going to cut the block with a plasma torch?
I was thinking about various cutting wheels and the 7 inch grinder and/or the sawzall with a cast iron blade.... not sure yet. As I am not in possession of a plasma cutter I doubt I will use one lol. And oh yeah I plan on taking many a picture!

Reason: stupid fingers!
I see a lot of cutting, welding and eating in your future. It will be a great conversation piece.
good luck, god bless.
I strongly suspect that the suck factor will be huge, and I also suspect I will go through a few flap wheels and more than a few death wheels lol. Thank you, it will definitely be the most epic grill in my town. Who knows maybe if it turns out good enough it could be the birth of a business opportunity for me
