Down shifting while going up hill helps cooling too. The engine works LESS believe it or not. It also helps coolant circulation. It kills the fuel economy thou.
The BPD kit seems expensive for what's included. Headgasket retail is $198 each at Ford dealer, and that includes updated standpipes. So $400 for headgaskets, another $420 for studs...not sure where all of the next $450 is going towards in their kit. And it doesn't include intake gaskets.
Mine is at the dealer being done now. Hopefully I'll have her back soon!
If i filled coolant cold to inbetween min and max on cold fill y would it be higher a couple days later on a cold check? It's inbetween the min and max on bottle now.
it has a air pocket somplace in system holding water level you see, leave it and run it,just look and make sure you can see few inches worth in coolant tank every day or two,if you overfill or just add to much with seaping gskts it will puke some out till its low enough no more puking, you may look one morn and see none in tank, no air pockets holding water so level went down, next morn may be high in tank, air pocket holding level up, air can be anyplace in system, not just the tank, are you going to do head gskts soon.
Is it at all possible that the water pump would be causing the 16psi?
The pump won't get it to 16 psi. If the pump is not pumping, running it hot will increase the pressuere, but that should be obvious during the pressure testing with the gauge plumbed into the decade Jose.
