Smile IFS AND 4 LINK REAR I NEED HELP

I'm ready to start putting a new front and rear suspension in my 55. I want to lower it and make it ride nice. Its getting a new moter with fuel injection and an automatic trans with overdrive. i hope to drive it a lot and have a nice ride and look . I'v looked at classic performance products and a few other places to buy my chassis parts even called to order them a few days ago and they couldn't tell me basic stuff about what i might need with there kit so I held off on my order. any suggestions or helpful hits would be nice. also I would like to not kill the budget.

You may want to take a look at TCI (Total Cost Involved) they have an improved upper a-arm mounting that holds your alignment much better than other MII IFS setups. They are a bit pricey but the quality is there. These aren't IFS systems that come in form offshore vendors, they are fabricated here in SoCal. Might be worth the drive down the coast and check out their facility and take one home.

what is better

THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Whats your opinion is mustang two as good as the newer IFS that they offer.

Also how low is a 55 when you put the new front end and drop spindles does it make it so low you can't drive it every day. I really like the low look but also want to enjoy driving it and not drag the frame every time i go over a speed bump.

Spindles are fairly inexpensive, I would start with the 2 inch dropped spindles and then adjust the coils or coilovers to get the stance/ride that you desire. If you can't get both simultaneously then replace the spindles. Here is a photo of what I believe that you are referring to as the "new IFS"...this is the TCI chassis that I have under my 40 Ford coupe. It is a cleaner setup with the coilovers and unique upper a-arm mounts but I don't know if there are any performance advantages to this style over the MII. In the case of a hot rod like this the new style is a lot "cooler" than that MII with the coil springs.

Charlie B I'm pretty sue that CharlieL is suggesting that you buy the kits from TCI. And I must concur. Heard great things about TCI and their service. I went with the Corvette C4 IFS from Flat-out engineering and wish now that I went through route. Not saying ANYTHING bad about Flat out. I'm just finding that the TCI kits offer easier install options and fewer challenges and hurdle to get over for the install. And the components are beefier that the stock C4 Corvette components.

TCI also offers 4 link rears as well.

I have a TCI 4-link in my 56 and I can recommend it. That said, I got that kit as part of a package deal I bought from someone who had given up on his project and had boxes and boxes of new parts he was selling at about $0.50 on the dollar. I am not sure that I would have dug that deep in my wallet for the set up I have. The one that I have has all polished SS bars and the air bags but that bling is not necessary unless you want it. That IFS is also offered by Heidt's...both Heidt's and TCI say they make their own but when seen side-by-side they are hard to differentiate.
