I've been dealing with this problem for a month now and about had enough of it. The truck won't rev past 2000 rpms in neutral. When I drive the truck cold it'll run fine sometimes. When it gets warm the truck won't go past 2000 rpm in all the gears. I checked the fuel filter it was black. Pulled the orings and one was missing an oring. Changed the orings. Changed the ipr valve. Noticed the uvch were melted and changed them. Nothing changed the problem. I pulled the idm off of my brothers 95 7.3 and only the driver side cylinder works. But while his is hooked up the truck revs past 2500 rpms. I hooked mine back up and all cylinders work but don't rev past 2000 rpms. Is it injectors, hpop, or idm?
Always use Alliant or Motorcraft (also supplied by Alliant) these are only ones that will last. Make sure the O rings are lubbed good if not they are going to get torn while installing, also make sure they are torque good I'm going to say 25ft/lbs. Not 100% on that.
well, that certainly limits you some. Can you pull the codes once you set the check light? at least now you know it will rev above 2000. Once you swap the pcm, use it with your idm and his and see how it performs, hopefully that will narrow it down to the root of the problem
