I have a 1991 f150 4.9 5 speed 2 wheel drive. I was preparing to replace my u-joints and noticed the transmission output shaft seal boot (I believe boot is the correct term) is torn. Looking up parts, I cannot find s seal listed for a 5 speed that has a boot. I have attached pictures of my transmission tag and one of the boot. I am not the original owner so I am uncertain if anything was replaced in the past. I have searched Motorcraft, Advance Auto, and Rockauto.
Thanks for the information. I believe it is the wrong seal. Will order the correct one. And ArdWrknTrk, I do have an iPhone. Do I need to upload pictures a different way next time? Or just "head space and timing issue" on my part?
Your response was not taken as a dig at me. Just wanting to learn. I have been using this site since early 2011. I really enjoy working on my vehicles.
Seal shouldn't be a problem to find.
What brand or store do you want?
Ha, interesting. I had assumed that you went back and fixed the pictures because up until now i had been seeing them on my phone. It apparently does not fix the orientation and turn them right side up on an iMac.
.Just to satisfy my curiosity, I did an internet search for that part number (E8TZ-7052-C) and found it at Rockauto for a 1989 f150 with Mazda 5 speed. Kind of upsets me that I could have ordered the wrong part. I will be ordering a Motorcraft part this weekend. Thanks NumberDummy
