My 2015 6.2 was just in the shop for a TSB related to oil consumption. Needed a new baffle? and valve cover along with 8new spark plugs. Just happened to notice it during a routine check. Was about 1.5 quarts low into a 2500 mile oil change. Couldn't find anything on it when I searched so thought I would make a post to warn others. Happy 4th.
WHY only 8 spark plugs.. the 6.2 has 16 spark plugs.???????????
always check oil level... anytime the truck is serviced...
they do not use bottled oil... a power pump and a gauge... so, could be to little .. could be to much....
I guess you missed a post 2 weeks ago.. truck went into Ford dealer for its First oil change.. shop forgot to put oil back in.. drove truck a few miles..
dealer will NOT replace engine.... just some kind of aftermarket warranty..
TSB 15-0161 is what my paperwork says. It also states 16 plugs were changed along with right side valve cover. Guy on phone mentioned 8 plugs were ruined by the oil leak, probably where I came up with that number.
This has nothing to do with incorrect amount of oil being added. Motor was consuming oil.
My 2012 has used oil on one occasion. I have never seen it budge since then but still check it. I don't change my own oil but I bring my own oil and filter (Ford) to a local shop. $10 bucks and he does it. (81k miles)
I routinely check my vehicles for consumption. Usually about 1500 miles.
My 08 5.7l Charger drinks a quarter of synthetic by 3k miles if I let it but runs likes a top. I just add half a quart at 1500 and take the synthetic Royal Purple to 5k intervals. (90k miles)
They really shouldn't use oil, a little is normal.
If you are in warranty, sure get it fixed, otherwise just keep it topped off make sure no leaks or smoke.
