Oil on spark plug threads

Hoping someone has an idea about this. The reason I pulled the plugs is a loud ticking from the back of the motor. Sounds like a lifter tick. Checked the tightness of the manifold nuts as I rePlaced the stock logs with eBay headers and stainless studs and nuts, all fine. Figured I would check the plugs. Pulled em out,3 of them had eroded electrodes, 3 of them were ok but just barely, 4 of them had carbon on the electrodes and oil at the taper and the upper threads. Not on the electrodes tho. Plugs are about 8 months old and have around 8000 miles on them. There is no oil in the holes or around them. All the plugs were tight. Autolight xp plugs. Thinking of trying a differant plug.

Is there anyway for oil to leak into the cylinders? Not sure of the cylinder #s, drivers side rear and 2 fronts had oil on them and 2nd from the back on passenger side.

Help please! Thanks

I recently changed my plugs and one of them had oil on the threads but not electrodes. Im thinkin its valve cover gasket, but as for mine Im not too concerned with it at this point. I dont think your plugs should be that bad in only 8000 miles though.

gasket area is dry on both sides. from the taper up is dry it's the threads that are wet with oil. I'm assuming the oil is coming from below??? it dosen't use much oil between changes, maybe 1/3 of a quart in 3-4000 miles.
