I just swapped a 351 in place of my 302. And I have a no spark condition. I have power at the + side of the coil, and power at the - Side too. Isn't the ground side souposed to pulse while the engine is cranking? It's not, distrubutor was in a running truck last week. Still using the 302 duraspark box, new super stock coil. Thanks
A no blink test light situation while while the engine is cranking means the coil isn't getting switched - indicative of a bad ICM or no power getting to it.
Do the power check as DB429SJ suggests.
What year is your 302 and 351? Ford made different modules for different years - maybe they're not compatible? Not sure on that one....mebbe it makes no difference with the same year 302 and 351?
Do you have the blue grommet on the ICM? Also, check your wiring color codes on the plugs....they might fit each other but mebbe they don't match the insulation colors.
Check stator resistance on DSII - separate the distributor harness and ohm out the orange and purple connections. If you have between 400 - 1K ohms, the stator is good - and check the wiring between the dizzy and ICM. If the resistance is different, replace the stator assembly.
You should have continuity between the distributor shaft and a good, clean engine ground. If not, clean off the paint, rust, etc from the distributor's base.
