Not much to do up there, except the valve covers themselves, see if they're straight and the sealing lip isn't bent, see that there isn't any rust on them, remove any part of the old gasket and clean the lip very well to get a proper seal. You can also look at the valve train, maybe share some pics for us to see if there is anything out of order. Before you remove the valve covers you will need to disconnect the sparkplug wires, so you might as well replace the sparkplugs and the wires if you think they have to be replaced while you're at it. When removing the wires, please note the position of each wire both on the engine and the distributor cap (you can replace that and the rotor inside too), a simple diagram or some pictures will help you a lot in keeping the correct firing order. When installing the new wires see that wires 5-6 are as far from each other as possible, and that no wire touches the exhaust manifolds.
