351W which pointer do I time from?

My 351W has a pass side timing pointer deal, down below alternator. There is a hollow barrel on one end of the timing pointer, and a tab sorta thing on opposite end (near crank). Which one do I set timing off, do I try to get 6 or 8 degrees BTC in the round hole, or at the opposite pointy end? Sorry to have to ask, been decades since I busted out my 1982 sears timing light.

Please ignore the question, figured it out last night. For those searching in future, the sharp pointy tip near the crankshaft has "TIME" written on it (mine was under a thick layer of rust), and the balancer is of course marked with both degrees ATDC and BTDC. I timed mine to 14 degrees advanced and believe I'm going to have to back it down a little lower.

You probably know already but I'll just mention it for the context of the thread, factory spec for base timing is 10deg BTDC.
