I bought this 2005 F250 in January 2016. It has run GREAT until about 10 days ago. Lost power, code P00011, miss-fire, and a couple other things out of the blue. The first thing I thought of was the "dreaded" Phasers.....
Took (hauled) it to a local Ford Dealer (Chillicothe Ford, Chillicothe MO) fearing the worst. Well....it WAS the worst - it needs a new engine! I guess it - literally - "ate" a valve. The thing just exploded. The Lead Mechanic told me he has worked on tons of these F250 5.4's, and this is the first he's seen like this.
Bought it in January, and it didn't even make it to it's first oil change....
Guess I need a shoulder to cry on! Not gonna be easy to come up with $7000 on a fixed VA Comp income....
Well that sucks. I would call around and find out about an engine swap. You can probably get a used engine swapped in for a lot less. There was a shop by me that did engine swaps w/ a 12 month / 12K warranty. A 5.4 used is probably 2k and remanufactured is probably 3K. It takes about 16 hours of labor either way. Too bad the guy semi-retired. He only does light mechanical work now.
