The kicker comps and solobarics are great speakers for the money. The solobarics are a little expensive and need a lot of power, I ran 2 solobaric 12's for years. You need 3 10's to compete with what you had. You have more speaker area with 3 10's than you do with 2 12's. Just buy another 10 and add it to the 2 you have, you will be happy with the end result.
I'm thinking about trying that triple sub idea cuz it sounds really good and probably hits like crazy. My only other question is that you are using those JL W-0's but what kind of amp are you running to them?
Tripndrag's set up is realllllly tight, but I'm afraid thats still not enough room for me. I thinking about getting 2 8s, but I'm not sure which company to go with for them,. I've always been a big fan of vega, but I'm trying to break away from that. I am not pleased at all with the kickers I have now, or the amp. I was also tossing around the idea of gettin some really good 6x9's and amping them.
I am running mine with a Soundstream amp, I can't remember the model number but it is the older 700 series. It runs about 800W RMS into 4 ohms. I am using the W-0's. I couldn't afford the higher end models and I don't think I could have fit them anyway because the more expensive subs get larger. I am really happy with them though. I put 3 in my brother in laws car first and he abuses them like nobody I have seen! I knew they would work well for me. They sound nothing like they do in a car unless you open the doors but it is kind of hard to drive around like that.
I have ran just about every combination in my truck, little amps, big amps, 6.5" subs up to a 15 and the 3 10's have been the best bang for the buck, great low end, really good punch, great music reproduction. 12's are to loose great low end though, the 15 was insane low end like the truck was alive and breathing. The best setup to me would be 4 10's and 1 15 with an Audio control Epicenter unit! I really wanted 4 10's but not enough room for me to build a simple box, be able to have my seat all the way back and funds.
Whooooooaaaaaa, I've been lookin around on this here internet...at www.zebaudio.com I found a visonik componet set. two 8's, two, 4's and tweeters. I think this is gonna work for. it seems like the perfect f-150 set up for the buck.
