I overheated on my trip to Maine last month. The fan wasn't plugged in and I was a total of 22,300lbs going down the road. Coolant got to 255 and Oil to 265. Just to be safe I am flushing everything and replacing the degas bottle cap.

Oh...and making sure the damn fan is plugged in before future drives.....

Sounds like a typical busted coolant hose causing an overheat situation due to loss of coolant. The green coolant ans new wye pipe got you going. Replace the green coolant properly and continue to monitor things closely to make sure they was no collateral damage. Other than that just keep enjoying the truck.

Exactly^^. Don't throw the baby out with the wash water. She overheated and you corrected the problem. Do your fluid changes as planned and keep an eye on her just like you used to. If something pops up then correct it. By the way, I have seen some metal tubing "Y"s at the auto stores.

As long as it doesn't "pop up" 1000 miles from home and 2 days into vacation.

No, I prefer to work on my truck in my shop, not on the side of the road. 40 years working on airplanes gives you a different mindset than most auto mechanics.

That's why I asked. There appears to not be any major issues. I'll do the fluids and check the hot hoses and keep monitoring. It is pretty bad *** that I can abuse it that much and she is still running well. If an issue appears or when I want to stud it, I can blame it on this over heat.

If it makes you feel more comfy then throw a few grand at it for nothing. I personally fix things that are broke, not things that might break.
