I believe Red Head can possibly build a box with a little quicker ratio. You may check with them to see if this is so. If they do, it probably won't be cheap.
Maybe some of the guys here smarter than me will know this, if I remember correctly there might be pitman arms with slightly different lengths. A longer arm would make the turning quicker if you can find one. Also on the list of things I don't know is if any other arms from this era are interchangeable with our boxes, say from a Lincoln or something like that. Anyhow if I were trying to do this it's where I would start.
Probably way out of context but a drastically quicker ratio is the CV swap I've done with a rack from a police car, the ratio is so quick on it I had a hard time steering it until I put the PS pump on. I look at this swap as something Ford wanted us to do, why else would they have designed it this way?
Angular change of the steering wheel would the same but the applied force would be different due to the decreased distance from the point of rotation. In other words, less leverage.

The last group buy we had here at FTE from redhead steering, they sent me a steering box that had a different input shaft than the one I send for a core,I believe my had a flat spot and theirs was round or visversa the thing is wen I called them I was told that the only deference was the turning ratio, the new one was quicker by 1 turn and the said I could keep it if it was ok with me, but I send it back and got the slower one, why I don't know.Butt they do make them.

Yes, RedHead offers a quick-steer version. It's same price as regular steer. I have one in my '66. Works great!
When I called redhead, they didn't make one for my '70. But then again, the guy I talked to was a mental dwarf.
I did have one built locally though, it took using some parts (worm gear) out of a similar but quicker ratio box and switching them to my box. It almost steers to quickly now with a 14" steering wheel.
