Firewall set back

Firewall set back

Looking for some feedback on the aftermarket 4" setback firewall for '56 F100. Will I lose my cal vent? How well does it match up to stock floor?

Why would you want that much set back? Most engines fit nicely with no set back. To answer your question about the vent...the offset firewalls only are recessed in the area below the windshield wiper motor and do not extend up into the upper cowl region.

Thanks. Engine was mounted when I bought the truck. Not much clearance. I might move it forward. Just wanted to explore my options. Thank again.

Moving the engine forward (if you have the space) is a much better option on most trucks. I looked at a truck this weekend that had a Volare IFS and a 429 BBF engine. The steering box on the Volare is notorious for causing clearance issues...the PO on this truck opted to mount the engine back behind the steering box which placed half of the engine beneath the dash. It really cramped the foot/pedal space inside the truck. In hindsight a MII IFS would have been a much better option given all the work and issues with drivability. Good Luck.
